NZ Vintage Kart Register- Wellington Run- March 2012.

The NZ Vintage Kart Register made its second visit to the CRC Kartsport Wellington Raceway
on 17th and 18th March 2012.

Twenty-six karts form as far south as Christchurch and as far north as Auckland made the
journey to the Rimituka Ranges north of Wellington.

The weather played its part and turned on two days of brilliant sunshine and warm temperatures.

Special thanks must go to the Kartsport Wellington Club for including us in their club day and
their great hospitality all weekend, Phil Davy for organising the event and Glen Sarcich for
 suppling the marquee.

Several old (but new to Vintage Karting) faces were in action over the weekend. Laurie Lester,
former Kartsport New Zealand National President showed up with his Nairn/Yamaha lay down kart that
he raced in the early 1980’s. He and his son Brendon (who is now a vintage kart convert) had a ball
sharing the kart all weekend. Mark Cowley fronted with an immaculate Kiwi Kart/Yamaha and went
away with a huge smile on his face.

The juniors were also given track time, Ruth Davy had several runs in dad Phil’s Dart/McCulloch
and also in Wayne Sproston’s Zip/McCulloch, she reckoned it was more fun than her regular
Junior RestrictedYamaha. Ten-year-old Sammy Sutton had his first ever kart drive in
Sharon Jenkinson’s Dart/McCulloch, absolutely enjoyed himself, telling his dad to get his
own one finished pronto!
